A former Great British Bake Off finalist will teach people to make festive treats in aid of a children's charity.

Faversham's own Jane Beedle - a finalist on Bake Off Series 7, who also won the Christmas Bake Off special in 2018 - is hosting an online bake-along event to raise money for Tree of Hope.

The Tonbridge-based charity supports more than 800 poorly and disabled children to have treatments that are not available through the NHS.

On December 2, Jane will show participants in the virtual event how to make a caramel shortbread ice cream terrine - with mincemeat an optional festive addition.

She will also be creating a sausage Christmas wreath, which can be adapted to be a vegetarian dish.

Jane, who made it right to the end of The Great British Bake Off before losing out to Candice Brown in 2016, has supported Tree of Hope for several years with other fundraising events.

The charity's CEO, Gill Gibb, said: "We are very grateful to Jane for her support and really looking forward to the event.

"Come along, have some fun, create some delicious Christmas goodies while also raising funds for the families we support."

Tree of Hope receives no grants or donations from local or central government - and instead relies on fundraising efforts to support its work.

Jane's bake-along takes place from 4pm to 6pm on December 2.

Tickets cost £15 per household and are available through the Tree of Hope website until Wednesday (November 25).
