Sir Bob Geldof has admitted he 'half-expected' the tragic death of his daughter Peaches.

The Boomtown Rats star, who lives in Faversham, spoke out on Irish radio station RTE Radio 1 about the 'unbearable' pain of losing Peaches, who died of a heroin overdose in April 2014.

He said: "With Peaches it was different, I was half-expecting it. The way she was carrying on, there's nothing you can do about it."

The mother-of-two died at her family home in Wrotham, leaving behind sons Astala, three, and two-year-old Phaedra and husband Thomas Cohen.

It was a tragic echo of the death of her mother Paula Yates, who died of a heroin overdose in 2000.

Mr Geldof said while speaking to RTE presenter Miriam O'Callaghan: "The thing of being forever 25, in my head, that’s unbearable, simply because of the cliché.

"You’re not supposed to see your children die.

"But she is the one who is with me every second of every day and she is the one who bangs into my consciousness at any moment, especially in any down moment.

"Time does not heal, it accommodates. But it is not accommodating this."

Peaches' funeral was held at St Mary Magdalene and St Lawrence church in Faversham, next to Mr Geldof's home Davington Priory where the family shared many happy memories.

The funeral of Peaches Geldof took place at Davington Church in Faversham.

Last year, Mr Geldof said he 'clearly failed' as a parent following Peaches' death and tried to help her through her addiction.

He said in October last year: "She knew what life was supposed to be and, God bless her, she tried very hard to get there. And she didn’t make it."
