An artist with long locks will sit in the middle of Faversham town centre when he has his hair chopped off for charity.

Bob Lamoon, of Canterbury Road, will be getting more than just a bob-cut when he takes part in Macmillan Cancer’s Brave the Shave campaign and he will even have his eyebrows removed.

A hairdresser from BTF hair salon, in West Street, will be taking the scissors to Bob’s mop on Saturday, August 13 at 11am.

Artist Bob Lamoon having his hair chopped in the middle of the town centre to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

He hopes that as many people as possible will gather round to watch the event in the Market Place, where the Phoenix Tavern landlord David Selves, known for his booming voice, will be on the mic.

Bob told the Faversham News: “We all know someone who has been affected by cancer and the work that Macmillan does is really fantastic.

“I saw an advert for Brave the Shave on TV and I thought ‘why not?’

“It is called Brave the Shave but it is not us taking part who are brave, it’s the people who actually have lost their hair when receiving treatment for cancer.

“From the age of 11, I knew people who had died from cancer, my mother-in-law and father both had cancer and I’ve had friends with it too.

“It is devastating and I want to do my bit to raise as much money as possible for the charity.”

In just three days, nearly £300 has been raised so Bob is hoping he may even succeed his target.

The national Brave the Shave campaign has already raised more than £1m this year, with more than 12,000 people taking part.
