A thug who boasted about robbing a delivery driver in Faversham on social media has been caged.
Reece Thomas posted a picture of himself wearing the driver's hat with the words: "Free pizza for me tonight."
But the 21-year-old, of Nicholas Road, was arrested and is now starting a 40-month prison sentence.
Canterbury Crown Court heard that at 11.30pm on Friday, March 10 a delivery driver in Preston Street was approached by two men who punched and kicked him to the ground.
They stole the his's pizza and baseball cap. Police were later given the name of Reece Thomas and checked his social media account to find the photograph and caption.
Officers on patrol in Faversham saw Thomas a week later and tried to stop him.
Thomas swore at them before running away. As police ran after him Thomas pulled a 7-inch knife from his trousers before barricading himself into a brick outhouse.
He remained inside for 45 minutes before coming out.
Police arrested him and charged him with robbery, affray, and possession of a knife in a public place.
Thomas admitted all three offences and received 40 months in a young offenders' institute. He mus also pay a £170 victim surcharge.
After the case, Det Con Mark Silk said: "While the items taken may not have been high-value, this was nevertheless a nasty, unprovoked attack on a victim who understandably was left shaken by the whole ordeal.
"Behaviour like this is never acceptable and I hope he takes the opportunity in custody to think about the effect his actions can have on others."
