M2 delays between Faversham and Sittingbourne due to crash and car fire

There have been long delays of up to 50 minutes on the M2 this evening due to a crash and a car fire.

Traffic was held on the motorway westbound near Faversham, between junctions 6 and 5.

There were 6.5 miles of congestion, back to Brenley Corner, according to National Highways.

At 7.30pm, they tweeted: “Kent Fire and Rescue are working at the scene with our traffic officers.”

One motorist said traffic at Brenley Corner was “at a standstill” at 8.30pm.

All lanes had reopened by 9pm.
