A comedy set in a charity shop will donate money raised from performances to a number of good causes.

The play comes to the Arden Theatre in Faversham between Wednesday and Sunday, June 26 and 29.

Charity Begins at Home is the second in a series of comedies written by James Coare and Birchington resident Barbara Dobson.

It's about workers in a fictional charity shop led by Peter (Terry Bunton) and the dithering Eunice (Ruth Clement).

A number of secrets begin to unfold throughout the show with hilarious results.

The main characters are aided by the less-than-maternal mother of four, Kelly (Fiona England) and two volunteers at the shop completing community service, Malcolm (Marcus Hogben) and Tyler (Perry Pullman).

Peter’s secret life begins to unravel further when his parents, Annabel (Jane Pulford) and Bernard (Steve Clement), arrive unexpectedly from Dubai.

As the consequences of everyone’s actions begin to take hold, it becomes clear that charity does indeed begin at home.

As the title suggests, the performances will also be raising money for a number of charities throughout the show’s run; the British Heart Foundation, the Miscarriage Association, Changing Lives and the Arden Theatre.
