M2 crash between Faversham and Sittingbourne causing delays

One of the two police officers injured after a serious crash involving a lorry on the M2 is still in hospital today.
The officers were responding to an emergency call when their patrol car and the HGV collided just before 11.30am.
A stretch of the coastbound motorway between junction five for Sittingbourne and six for Faversham was shut for more than five hours but reopened shortly after 5pm yesterday.
Police today said one of the officers was still in hospital today, while the other had been released.
Police, paramedics and firefighters were called to the scene yesterday.
An ambulance spokesman said two crews were sent alongside the air ambulance.
He added: "Two police officers, including a male officer with an arm injury, have been assessed and treated for their injuries and were taken by road to King's College Hospital."
A police spokesman said: "A police vehicle responding to a call in the east of the county has been involved in a collision with a lorry on the M2 between junctions 5 and 6 of the coastbound carriageway.
Detective Constable David Holmes from the Kent Police Serious Collision Investigation Unit said yesterday: "Both officers in the BMW were taken to hospital.
"The passenger suffered serious but non life-threatening injuries and the driver's injuries are described as less serious. The driver of the lorry was not injured.
"We have already spoken to a number of witnesses but are keen to hear from anyone we haven’t yet spoken to.
"We would also like to hear from anyone who may have dashcam footage of the incident or people who travelled through the area just before the collision."
