Drivers are tonight reporting delays of more than an hour as 18 mile queues stretch down the M2.

Earlier this evening a two-vehicle crash at junction 6 closed a lane on the coastbound carriageway near Faversham, while in a separate accident an overturned car blocked a sliproad at the same junction.

One lane remains closed between J5 for Sittingbourne and J6 for Faversham following the collision at 3.30pm today.

Nearby, the M2 London-bound entry slip road is partially blocked due to an overturned vehicle.

Tailbacks on the coastbound carriageway of the M2 currently stretch past J3, and Kent Highways says the situation could take until 10pm to clear.

The accidents are adding to drivers' woes across Kent tonight as Operation Stack gridlocks roads around the M20.
