Cyclist killed by falling tree in Faversham

A cyclist has died after being hit by a falling tree on a country lane.

Emergency services were called to the scene in Faversham earlier today (Friday, September 22).

Police officers and paramedics attended the incident in Box Lane at around 7.30am.

The narrow country lane was blocked off between Eastling Road and Stalisfield Road for a number of hours.

Tragically, the cyclist – a man – was confirmed deceased at the scene.

A police spokesman said: “Kent Police was called at 7.30am today to a report that a cyclist had been struck by a falling tree in Box Lane, Faversham.

“Officers attended to assist medical crews from South East Coast Ambulance Service, and a man was confirmed deceased at the scene.

“Next of kin have been informed and the matter will now be passed to the coroner.”

A spokesman for the South East Coast Ambulance service confirmed teams were at the scene but could not provide more details.
