Dog found in abandoned car on M2 near Faversham

A dog has been rescued by police after being found in an abandoned car on a Kent motorway.

Officers from the roads unit say the animal was discovered in a vehicle that had been dumped just before Junction 6 for Faversham.

They are now trying to trace the owner.

A spokesman said: "Police were called at 2.27am on November 30 to a report of two pedestrians seen walking on the M2 near junction 6.

"Officers attended and found a car which had appeared to be broken down and inside was a dog. The dog was taken by officers to ensure it was safe and at around 7am further reports came in reporting two people being seen walking near junction 5 on the carriageway.

"The dog has since been reunited with its owner and the driver of the vehicle has been reported for driving without a licence or insurance."
