Five cars have crashed on the M2 leaving traffic backing up along the motorway.

The collision happened this evening on the eastbound carriageway near Faversham, between Junction 6 at Ashford Road, and Junction 7 at Brenley Corner.

Police were called to the scene at about 5.40pm.

A spokesman said: "No injuries have been reported and Highways England has been contacted to assist with clearing debris from the carriageway."

The coastbound carriageway remains partially blocked. Traffic is queuing in the area.
