A popular food hall has applied for an extended licence for everything from ‘tastings to supper clubs, pop-up shops and exhibitions’.

Macknade Fine Foods in Selling Road, Faversham, hopes to extend its licence to be able to have live and recorded music and sell alcohol from Monday to Sunday 7am until midnight.

The application comes amid big plans for the foodie emporium, which will soon be expanding to include a bigger and better food hall, a new kitchen and furniture shop, a bakery, butchers, fishmongers, florist, café, on-site brewery and food and drinks theatre.

The business’ current licence to sell booze is Monday to Saturday 9am to 6pm and on Sundays from 10am until 4pm.

General manager Finn Dunlop said: “We are excited to be applying for an extension of our licence here at Macknade Fine Foods.

“The space in-store is extremely versatile and we are keen to make better use of it, extending our shopping hours on occasion and hosting exciting events for our customers and the community.

“From tastings to supper clubs, pop-ups shops to exhibitions, our events are becoming increasingly popular and we want to give more people the chance to come along and experience them.

“The restrictive nature of our current licence means that we need to apply for a supplementary licence every time we wish to trade outside of our usual opening hours, so it is the logical next step for our business.”

In December, owner of Macknade Stefano Cuomo release exclusive images to the Faversham News showing revised plans for the complete redevelopment of the historic site.

It includes six phases of development and Mr Cuomo was keen to emphasise that there will be still be a focus on maintaining the “Macknade experience”, the family-run ethos and the heritage and the character of the buildings on site.
