FOUR people were taken to hospital after a multi-vehicle crash on the M2.

The incident, on the coastbound carriageway, close to junction 7 at Faversham, involved a pick-up truck, coach, car, van and a lorry.

Two people travelling on the coach were taken to hospital. They were a 26-year-old woman who suffered a suspected neck injury and a 31-year-old man who received a suspected leg injury.

The 53-year-old van driver and the 41-year-old truck driver, received suspected neck and back injuries. All four people were taken to the Queen Elizabeth Queen Mother Hospital in Margate.

The pile-up, which happened at about 8.40am on Thursday, resulted in huge tailbacks stretching more than nine miles at one stage.

Three ambulance crews, one from Sittingbourne and two from Canterbury, and an officer, Colin Taylor, attended the incident.

Mr Taylor, from the East Coast Ambulance Trust, said: “Potentially this accident could have been a lot worse. Thankfully, none of the casualties suffered life-threatening injuries and we were able to provide water and treatment to the other passengers of the coach on scene.”
