Crews from Faversham fire station were pumped up and ready to go on Saturday for a special Christmas present delivery service.

Team members fired up the truck and left the station laden with gifts and Father Christmas on board.

The crew gave fire safety advice and gifts to families across the town

They travelled the streets of Faversham to light up the faces of children, with Father Christmas and his helpers giving out presents and, most importantly, fire safety advice for the festive period.

In return for the gift delivery, a donation to The Fire Fighters Charity was given, and the team were “overwhelmed with people’s generosity” after raising £300.

Crew member Dan Packham said: “We had an incredible amount of interest and it’s been a huge success.

“Children jumping up and down, squealing with excitement made it all worthwhile.

The crew raised £300 for charity through the delivery service

"Smiling faces as they received their gift, the shock of Santa arriving on a fire engine and then the fun of being able to come aboard themselves.”

The delivery gets added to the total collected in the town this year for the charity, coming to £1,686.

Crew manager Hannah Poole said: “It’s been a fantastic year. I am truly grateful for the constant generosity of the residents and visitors of Faversham.

"It has been lovely to be out meeting the community and having the chance to wish them all well for the Christmas period.”
