The crash happened at around 3pm.

A funeral hearse was one of three cars involved in an accident on the M2 that brought traffic to a standstill.

It took place at a little after 3pm Friday on the coastbound carriageway between the A251 exit and Brenley Corner, near Faversham.

The two other vehicles involved were a Volvo and a Citreon van.

The crash left one man trapped in his car. Firefighters had to cut part of the vehicle to free him and he was taken to hospital with injuries, although they were not thought to be life-threatening.

Another person was treated for chest and leg pains and a third for whiplash.

Traffic built up considerably while emergency staff worked at the scene and the carriageway was not fully reopened until 4.15pm.
