A man has gone missing in The Swale, prompting a huge emergency service response.
The major search operation is continuing at Harty Ferry, near Faversham, this evening.
It's been reported that clothes were found near the water but the man, believed to have been swimming, cannot be found.
At least six ambulances have been sent to the remote location on the edge of Oare Marshes.
Police and Coastguard personnel are also there, and the Coastguard helicopter and air ambulance medics have been involved.
A police spokesman said: "Officers from Kent police are assisting the Coastguard in searching for a man who has gone missing in the water off of Harty Ferry Road, Faversham.
"The incident was reported to police at 4.13pm."
One witness said: "They're right on the waterfront. There's lots of emergency personnel here."
There is just one road, from Oare, leading to the edge of The Swale where the emergency services are gathered.
Harty Ferry in Faversham should not be confused with the place of the same name on the Isle of Sheppey.
It was once a well-used crossing point to the Island but is now somewhere popular with bird watchers and walkers.
More information as we get it.
