A man in his 70s has been taken to hospital after a crash in Faversham town centre.

Medics and police were called to Court Street at 11.23am after a car came off the road and hit a bollard.

Police are appealing for information following the crash.

Police spokesman, Carly Wymark, said it was thought the driver had suffered “a medical episode” at the wheel.

Ambulance service spokesman Richard Airey said the man was treated for chest and neck pain and taken to William Harvey Hospital in Ashford.

Trevor Morgan of Trev's Shoe Repairs said: "I heard the loud bang, it went off like a canon.

"He went straight into a bollard at the top of Partridge Lane."

Kent Highways closed North Lane between Partridge Lane and Court Street while the vehicle was recovered.
