British Transport Police called in after a man at Faversham train station threatens to harm himself causing delays to and from Victoria

A man was threatening to harm himself and refusing to get off the tracks near Faversham train station last night.

Passengers endured long delays after the 27-year-old was reported on the tracks at around 7.30pm.

The police and British Transport Police (BTP) were drafted in to coax the man off the rails.

A spokesman for the BTP said: "We were called shortly before 7.45pm on Thursday, June 19 following reports of a man on the tracks near to Faversham station.

"Our officers attended, alongside colleagues from Kent Police, and discovered a 27-year-old man on the tracks, threatening to harm himself.

"The man was subsequently removed from the tracks and is currently undergoing assessment.

"The line was handed back to Network Rail shortly after 8.30pm."

Commuters took to social media to voice their frustration.
