Man tries to snatch woman's bag near Faversham Recreation Ground

A man tried to snatch a woman's bag as she walked near a Kent park.

Detectives have launched an investigation into the attempted theft which happened in Whitstable Road, near Faversham Recreation Ground, at about 6.45am on Saturday.

The victim shouted at the miscreant, before he left the scene empty-handed.

A police spokesman said: "A woman was walking near the recreation ground when a man approached her from behind and tried to take a bag she was carrying.

"The victim shouted at the man and he left the scene empty-handed.

"The suspect is described as being white, around 5 ft 10 ins and with blond hair.

"He was wearing a grey hooded top with the hood up and black joggers."

Officers are appealing for witnesses or anybody with information that may assist the investigation to call police on 01795 419119, quoting the reference number 46/240518/22.
