Mindless vandals have caused almost £2,000 damage after attacking a set of rugby posts on Faversham Rec.

Council officials discovered the damage yesterday (Tuesday) morning.

They will now have to fork out £1,800 to fix the posts, which were bent to the ground.

Cllr Ken Pugh said: “It is extremely disappointing that the actions of a few mindless individuals spoils the enjoyment of the park for others.

“This is a community facility, for everyone to enjoy, and their actions not only deprive people of the chance to use the equipment, but means we need to spend scarce resources replacing or repairing them – money we would rather spend on other improvements to our parks and open spaces.

“Someone out there knows who did this, and I urge anyone with any information to report it to us or the police to help deter further vandalism of our parks.”

The incidents have been reported to the police.
