Missing girl found at London address

KELLY JOHNSON: her parents are unaware of her exact whereabouts

POLICE have found a missing 16-year-old Kent teenager at an address in London. Kelly Johnson, from a village near Faversham, is safe and well and living with a friend.

She is still at the London address and has not made contact with her parents, Michael and Sharon, who do not know her exact whereabouts.

She had been living at this address since her disappearance on June 11 when she was dropped off at Faversham station. Police are not confirming whether the friend is male or female.

She has been encouraged to telephone her parents but Swale police point out that, being 16, she is legally allowed to live away from home and they could not forcibly move her from her current location unless there was significant concern for her wellbeing. The family has declined to comment.

Swale police spokeswoman Sally Farrell said: "We are pleased that she has been found safe and well. We had a huge response from the appeal for information, including a response from the appeal in the Kent Messenger Group."

Last week Mr and Mrs Johnson made a tearful press appeal at Sittingbourne Police Station two weeks after Kelly's disappearance, pleading with her to call them.

Kelly had told them she was going to see a friend in Canterbury. She had no change of clothing and carried just £10.

CCTV images captured a girl matching Kelly's description on her own on the London-bound slow train.
