POLICE are appealing for information following an attempted robbery on a footpath in Salters Lane, Faversham, at around 7.40am on Tuesday.
Joseph Brennan, 60, a former member of the Parachute Regiment, was walking his dog when he was approached by two males and a female. One of the males asked for a cigarette. Mr Brennan said he had none.
At this point it is believed one of the males tried to grab the man by his top but the victim managed to defend himself.
Another male then grabbed Mr Brennan by his head. The man’s dog is then thought to have bitten the suspect on the leg.
At this stage Mr Brennan left the scene with his dog, leaving the two males and woman on the footpath.
The first suspect is described as being a white male, aged between 20 and 22, 5ft 8in tall, of skinny build with short mousey coloured hair. He wore a grey T-shirt.
He was accompanied by another male described as being white, aged between 20 and 22, 5ft 6in tall, of stocky build with dark brown shaven hair. He wore a grey T-shirt and blue jeans.
PC Mark Silk who is investigating the incident said: “I am keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident. It is thought the suspects may have received injuries, such as a dog bite, and require medical treatment.
"I would urge anyone who may have spotted such an injury on a person they know to get in contact with Kent Police. All calls will be fully investigated and treated in the strictest confidence.”
Anyone who may be able to help with the investigation, is asked to contact Swale Police on 01795 584040 (an answer phone will operate outside office hours) or Kent CrimeStoppers on 0800 555111.
