Faversham Fringe is set to make a welcome return this week with an array of shows across several venues.

The performing arts festival, now in its fourth year, will see events held at The Limes, the Arden Theatre, Faversham Town Hall and the Alexander Centre from tomorrow (Saturday), until Friday, August 30.

This year’s programme includes comedy, drama, magic, poetry and hypnotism with 46 individual shows and a total of 73 performances.

Highlights include a new version of The Skate Boys of Faversham Town. This is a dramatised true story of when an all-Faversham team won the Roller Hockey World Cup back in 1930.

It features local musician Geoff Sandiford’s music interspersed with scenes by Hand of Doom productions.

Also on the listings is immersive show Left Behind, by Faversham resident Sarah Davies, which will be performed in the Alexander Centre’s disused attic space.

Faversham Fringe was set up to provide an affordable platform for performers to being their shows to audiences.

Festival director Ribs Norman said: “One of the things I love most about Faversham Fringe is seeing our performers popping up on TV and radio.

“Saying ‘we saw them here first’ is great fun.

“Previous year’s festivals have seen performances from comedian Jen Brister who has recently been seen on Live At The Apollo, and Katie Pritchard who won this year’s musical comedy award.”

Most shows are priced at £5 a ticket. These can be bought online, from the festival box office in the 12 Market Place during the week, or on the door if the show has not sold out.
