People living and working in Whitstable are being urged to get behind the town’s annual In Bloom competition.

Organisers Whitstable Improvement Trust are keen to encourage more entries.

Trust manager Mandy Broughton said: “Please nominate someone who has made the effort - it could be yourself or a neighbour or just somewhere you have walked past and admired.

“The whole idea of the competition is to brighten up Whitstable and make it a more welcoming and attractive place so let’s reward those who have done their bit.”

This year the theme of the competition is sunsets and there will be prizes for the most creative interpretations, which could be anything from sunflowers to orange and yellow hanging baskets.

Judges from Whitstable Horticultural Society will inspect all the nominations in July and prizes will be presented during this year’s Oyster Festival.
