MEMBERS of Kent Police's Faversham Rural Neighbourhood Team have launched an investigation following a burglary in which horse tack worth £1,200 was stolen from a stables.

The incident occurred in Painters Forstal, Faversham, between 4.15pm on Monday, January 9 and and 4pm on Tuesday, January 10..

As a result the Faversham Rural Neighbourhood Team have visited a number of stables and other horse owners in the area to advise owners of security and ask them to report incidents in which they may have been offered cheap horse tack.

PC Darren Walshaw said: "Myself and my team are keen to crackdown on equestrian related crime and would ask people to be as security conscious as they can.

"Where possible lock gates, mark your property, invest in security lighting and CCTV. I would also recommend contacting Swale Neighbourhood Watch to see if you could set up a horse watch scheme in your area."
