AN OPEN forum to discuss the future of Faversham Town Football Club is to be held next Tuesday.
The meeting, which starts at 7pm, is in the Osborne Dining Hall at the Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School. It will be the only item on the agenda of the Faversham and Swale East area committee.
Councillors have chosen the school for its acoustics and for the anticipated large numbers expected to come forward to offer their opinions and ways forward.
Swale Borough Council leader Andrew Bowles said it was important that anyone interested with the wellbeing of the club or interested parties with proposals for the club's future attended
"If it wasn't so sad it would be funny, but it's not funny it's serious. You've got competing groups saying they control the club," he said.
Although he was uncertain whether the club had a viable future he was hopeful. We need to seek some clarification on who owns the club. The ground belongs to Swale Borough Council and it's technically speaking let at a peppercorn rent to the trustees of the football club.
"What the relationship is with the trustees and the football club I don't know. Someone needs to come along and show us what the relationships are," he said.
