HUMAN remains have been discovered in an area of undergrowth below the M2 at Painter's Forstal, near Faversham.

They were found close to a bridge after a two-day search carried out by police officers and forensics specialists of the Metropolitan Police.

A post-mortem examination was conducted at St George's Hospital, Tooting, to try to identify and inform the next of kin.

The search was in connection with a killing that took place in South West London between July 1998 and February 1999. In December, a man and a woman from Earlsfield, southwest London, were charged with murder.

The Butterstone Cattery and Kennels in Hillside, Well Lane, said the first they knew about the search was when staff came in on Thursday morning to say police had blocked off the road.
