Shepherd Neame has teamed up with Thailand's oldest brewery in a new deal announced this week.

The Faversham brewery has agreed a distribution partnership with Boon Rawd Brewery, which produces Singha beer.

It means Sheps will be the sole distributor of Singha, a premium Thai lager and the country's original beer, with the businesses hoping to promote the profile of the beer throughout the UK.

Both companies are independent family run businesses and hold the seal of approval from their respective royal families.

Boon Rawd is allowed the distinguished honour of being allowed to display the Garuda emblem, used as the royal symbol for centuries by the Thai royal family to denote official documents.

The deal has been signed with a subsidiary of the Boon Rawd brand - Boonrawd Trading International Company Limited.

The company's managing director, Chandchutha Chandratat, said: "We look forward to developing a long-term relationship with Shepherd Neame to increase Singha’s brand appeal and distribution channels in the UK. Both companies are long-standing family businesses with similar cultures, so it made great sense to form this partnership."

Boon Rawd also produces Leo, which is a prominent lager available throughout Thailand.
