An animal rescue centre is looking for a permanent home this Christmas for a Rottweiler which was found emaciated, starving hungry and covered in sores.
Seven-year-old Layton arrived at the charity based in Painters Forstal two weeks ago after he had been rescued from a family who had starved him.
Happy Endings co-founder Chris Johns said: "He was very small and frail and weighed just 30kg - where as a healthy dog his size should weigh nearly 50kg.
"Despite all he's been through, he is such a friendly boy. He's got a lovely character and loves being with people.
"It's why we would like to spoil him this Christmas - and hopefully find him a warm, loving home."
Layton has received a lot of medical attention at Happy Endings so his health is improving and he is beginning to regain weight.
Now, the charity is appealing for someone to offer Layton a forever home but they would alternatively like to find him a foster family who will save him from spending Christmas in the kennels.
Chris added: "He is well behaved and fine with other dogs, so we are really hoping someone will read this and come forward.
"He is such a lovable dog, we really want to show him that someone does care this Christmas."
If you would like to help - or donate a gift for Layton - please contact the charity on 01795 530371 or visit www.happyendingsrescue.org
