There will be fairies at the bottom of carnival garden

Shiver me timbers! An entry in last year's carnival parade

Fairies, ugly bugs and pearly kings and queens - all can be spotted in the Faversham carnival procession on Saturday.

This year there will be no fair, no fireworks and a shorter route.

But organiser Sylvia Lawrence says there’s no reason why it won’t be the best yet.

“Look out for the fairies from 7th Faversham Guides, the ugly bug ball, ancient Egyptians, pearly kings and queens,” she said.

The changes this year are due to carnival club volunteers and councillors working hard to cut down the police charges which originally ran to thousands of pounds.

The parade starts at 6.30pm from Whitstable Road. Floats are due to line up from 4pm and Park Road, Chapel Street, Beaumont Terrace and Whitstable Road will be closed.
