A former Miss Faversham could be the next Miss Universe.
Penny Edwards is in the running to become Miss Universe Great Britain at the competition and if she succeeds in that, she will be on her way to the prestigious Miss Universe contest.
The 21-year-old of Ashford Road has fought off fierce competition and is down to the final 30 contestants for the finals in Cardiff next Saturday.
With the help from her sponsor Teynham restaurant Mint Leaf she has gone from Miss Faversham to Miss Kent and now potentially to Miss Universe Great Britain.
She said: “I’m not actually nervous, I’m trying not to think about it to be honest. That way, when I get to the day, I can properly put my mind to it and focus.
“I have been Miss Faversham and Miss Kent but this is a completely different ballgame.”
Penny, who works as a Service Advisor for Skoda in Canterbury, will have to be interviewed by three judges, speak about herself for two minutes and take to the catwalk in swimwear and eveningwear as part of next Saturday's competition.
Part of Penny’s campaign to win Miss Universe is raising money for the Strongbones charity who work to help young people with bone conditions.
A place as Miss Universe would win her modelling contracts across the globe and a chance to star in a Bollywood film.
