Loose animals on M2 between Sittingbourne and Faversham spark gridlock

A motorway was blocked after several dogs had been seen roaming on the hard shoulder.

The M2 was partially shut coastbound between Junction 5 for Sittingbourne and Junction 6 for Faversham after the incident unfolded at about 2.30pm today.

Police were on the scene and found the pets, bringing them under control.

There was traffic on the M2 near Faversham while the animals were brought under control

Drivers experienced delays and slow-moving traffic, according to traffic specialists Inrix.

A police spokesman said: “There have been reports that several dogs have been seen along the hard shoulder between junctions 5 and 6 of the coastbound M2.

“Officers are currently in attendance and actively seeking to locate the dogs and identify the owners.”
