Van crash victim resuscitated in roadside drama

AN OFF-DUTY firefighter saved the life of a man who is thought to have suffered a heart attack while driving his van on a motorway.
The fireman, from Faversham, was behind the van when it veered off the carriageway and crashed into the central reservation on the M2 on Monday morning.
When he and another man rushed to the van the driver was not breathing.
After getting him out of the van the fireman gave the man mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. The crash victim was taken to hospital where his condition is said to be serious but stable.
The crash happened at 8.25am, about half mile from junction five at Sittingbourne on the London-bound carriageway.
The road was re-opened at 11.15am but there were long tailbacks for motorists.
