British Transport Police appeal for victims of reported attack at Selling railway station to come forward

A man alleged to have taken part in an attack on two men at a railway station fell onto the tracks as the victims tried to protect themselves.

The suspect and another man are said to have assaulted the victims after getting off a train at Selling in a “drunken state”.

British Transport Police (BTP) says it is understood the pair attacked the men, who were waiting on a platform, as they wrongly believed they were being mocked.

A spokesperson said: “The victims attempted to protect themselves and, in the process, one of the attackers fell onto the track.

“A female tried to break up what she thought was a fight but was threatened by the suspects and she left fearing for her safety.”

Both men, aged 32 and 36, were arrested at the scene on suspicion of affray and later bailed while the investigation continued.

No one suffered significant injuries during the incident, which happened at about 7.30pm on Friday, July 5.

Police are now appealing for the victims or any witnesses to come forward.
