A Faversham business owner really is proving it is the season of goodwill by deciding to throw the doors of his bar open on Christmas Day for those in need of a place to go.
Oliver Branson-Cole, who runs Soirée Cocktail Bar and Lounge in Preston Street, will be dishing up a stew free of charge to anyone “feeling at a loose end”.
This is the third time the 32-year-old has run an open house event on Christmas Day, and this year he will be helped out by girlfriend Karlie Alton.
“I previously did this at my former shop, Goodness Gracious, before I sold it this year, but because it was successful I wanted to carry it on,” he said.
“This time I will be putting on a turkey stew and choice of drink for those feeling lonely, the homeless, the elderly or just anyone feeling at a loose end who needs a place to go.”
Oliver will be opening the bar for people to drop in between midday and 3pm.
“There’s no catch to it, it is just a way of giving a little bit back,” he added.
“I started doing this three years ago as it is part of my family’s Christmas tradition to donate and this is a good way as we have a commercial premises.
“I’ll be putting on enough to cater for say about 20 people, but I can always rustle up more if needed, and if there is anything left over I won’t let it go to waste.”
