Faversham man Bob Geldof has announced that there will be a new Band Aid to raise money for the Ebola crisis.
The Do They Know It's Christmas hit was originally released in 1984, selling more than 3 million copies and raising more than £8 million for the famine crisis in Ethiopia.
On Saturday, artists old and new from U2's Bono to One Direction, will re-record the hit to be released on Monday.
In a press conference yesterday, Bob called Ebola a "filthy little virus" and emphasised the need for people to go out and physically buy the track to raise money for what they hope will be Christmas number one.
He said: "Don't download it, don't just look at You Tube. Pay for everything. It's a quid, it's a couple of quid."
The CD will be priced at £4 and the line-up so far features Ed Sheeran, One Direction, Paloma Faith, U2's Bono, Chris Martin from Coldplay, Emile Sande, Underworld, Sinead O'Connor, Foals and Bastille.
The Boomtown Rats frontman also announced that Margate artist Tracey Emin would be designing the sleeve for the CD.
Both Bob and Midge Ure who were at the forefront of the 1984 record, said that the creation of this new track wasn't about "nostalgia."
Bob said: "I don't like doing this stuff and he's (Midge Ure) on tour all the time. It's quite boring doing it and organising it and it's quite embarrassing calling people you don't know and other artists."
But they have already rallied together more than 10 acts for the Christmas single and Bob speaks about their "appetite" to be involved.
He said they called up "the giants of the past" who said they would "come again to the party".
The Ebola outbreak has killed nearly 5,000 people across West African countries with Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone some of the worst hit.
Bob said he had received a call from the UN to say they still need a 20% increase in assistance across the board.
He said: This is a particularly pernicious illness because it renders humans untouchable and that is sickening.
"Mothers can't comfort their children in their dying hours.
"Lovers can’t cradle each other and wives can't hold their husbands' hand."
