Bollywood is returning to Faversham this weekend with crews set to descend on the town to film a new movie.
The Guildhall will “burn down” during the filming, which starts on Sunday morning as the town centre will host some of India’s top actors.
Kent Film Office (KFO), the branch of Kent County Council which organises major filming events in the county, says the area around Market Place will shut on Sunday and Monday.
The movie, called Pagalpanti, is exciting the Indian press and already has its own IMDB (Internet Movie Database) page.
Starring Anil Kapoor, who appears in Slumdog Millionaire and 24, the production is described as an out-and-out comedy and is filming in Leeds and London.
A spokesman for KFO said: “The film is a large Bollywood production which will be filming in Faversham for three days.
“The Guildhall will be transformed into a fireworks shop which, via visual effects, will burn down.”
Traffic will be prevented in Court Street, Market Street, Market Place and Middle Row from 8am until 8pm on Sunday and again on Monday.
Bollywood crews last visited the town in 2017 to shoot a war movie called Rangrut set in the First World War.
KFO estimates filming in the county is worth around £4 million to the county’s economy.
