A furry four-legged villager has been labelled a "local celebrity" for her serious wanderlust after ending up more than 50 miles away.
Precious is not your average sleepy feline and often spends a week away from her home in Boughton, recently venturing to Brenley Corner, the Thanet Way service station, Dargate and Dunkirk.
But her latest adventure took Precious, aged 11, all the way to Belvedere in London.
Owner Allie McKirgan, of The Street, says she isn’t worried as Precious always returns home to curl up on the sofa with fellow cats Luca and Luna.
Allie said she is now considering getting a ‘cat-cam’ to find out exactly where Precious goes.
“I had a phone call from a vets in Belvedere who said they had Precious,” said 49-year-old Allie.
“It turns out a couple from the area had picked her up in Dargate and taken her home with them, before going to a vets to find out if she had a chip.
“My son always jokes that she will end up in London and now he’s said we’ll be getting a call from Australia next.
“It’s not like she is trying to escape as she always comes home eventually. She loves wandering round the village and often even further.”
Precious has become a popular feature on the Boughton Residents Group Facebook page, as she often turns up at the school, in the church, in gardens and even Thatch the hairdressers.
Boughton School posted on the group on Tuesday: “We have an intruder. If you recognise this cat please get in touch. We have tried putting it out but he or she keeps coming back in.”
Another post just 12 hours later said: “Does anyone recognise this black cat? It’s been outside our house all evening.”
At the weekend, Precious joined the villagers in the church before the Christmas lights switch-on.
Allie, a barmaid at the White Horse pub in the village, added: “She clearly knows where her home is but I do hope she keeps safe.
“She has been away for more than a week before, but she always finds her way back.”
