Colourful carnival spectacle

Pirates, bees and cartoon characters took to the streets of Faversham for the town carnival on Saturday.

This year’s event was scaled down to minimise police charges and there was no fair or fireworks.

But Faversham Carnival Club treasurer Brian Tovey said the street collection was still £2,500, compared with £3,000 last year, and he had not received a bill from the police.

The carnival club were told to expect a bill of more than £600 from the police for patrolling the event.
