A short-film - which marked the return to the screen of one of Coronation Street’s best-loved actors - is finally getting a wider online release.
Thelma Barlow, 95, who for the past eight years has lived in Faversham, emerged from retirement to film Sleepless in Settle last year.
Filmed on location in Rye, the 22-minute film had been shot over the space of a week in September 2023.
After getting its premiere in the East Sussex town, the film was shown at several festivals and received a warm reception from critics - but fans had been left unable to view it elsewhere.
Speaking to KentOnline in December, Thelma said of the film: “Most things we see about old folk they're at each other's throats or it’s how the older person becomes a burden. But this one is really happy.
“It has some conflict, but it does make you think about your own relationships.”
It is a heartwarming tale of the relationship between a son and mother. Penned and directed by Judy Flynn, it co-stars Graham Turner.
The video is now available to view, in full, for free on YouTube.
Thelma Barlow appeared in Coronation Street for more than 25 years, before going on to find additional fame in Victoria Wood’s Dinnerladies sitcom as well as appearances in the likes of Doctor Who and Midsummer Murders.
