Couple 'nearly killed' as concrete is thrown from bridge

KENT Police are appealing for information following an incident in which a lump of concrete was thrown at a couple's car from a railway bridge.

It happened as the red Ford Focus was travelling on the A2 in Ospringe Street towards Faversham. As the vehicle approached the bridge, the lump of concrete hit the car's windscreen, causing it to crack.

Neither the woman driver nor her husband was injured in the incident but PC Andy Bell, of Swale Police, said: "This was a dangerous and thoughtless act of vandalism which could have resulted in someone being seriously hurt of even killed."

Police are keen to identify a white male, thought to be aged between 12 and 13, who was reported to have been seen nearby. The incident happened on Thursday between 1pm and 1.30pm.
