A MOTORCYCLIST died just nine miles from home on his way to see his family for the first time in two years.
Nigel Boreham, 39, formerly from Faversham, was riding a Harley-Davidson when he was caught up in an accident involving two cars on the A2 in Wincheap, near Canterbury.
He lived in Les Mayons, France, where he was working as a commercial diver. His mother, Sue Boreham, of Bysingwood Road, Faversham, said: "He was on his way to see us - we hadn't seen him for two years.
"He has done so many dangerous things in his life. It's unbelievable that he should have died in a road accident so close to home. He used to bungee jump. He crammed a lot into his 39 years. He was a great person, always laughing."
Mr Boreham leaves a partner, Helen Aitken, mother and father Sue and Fred and two sisters Angela and Dawn. His funeral is being held today at Barham Crematorium, near Canterbury.
The accident happened on August 10. Police still want to speak to the driver of one of the two cars involved, a white Renault, which failed to stop. Witnesses should call Canterbury Police on 01227 762055.
