POLICE have appealed for information after a man was savagely beaten during a street robbery in Faversham (Jeremy Dunning writes).

The 44-year-old victim was kicked and punched by four men and suffered substantial injuries to his face and a lot of blood loss. His keys and wallet were stolen.

The attack happened in Court Street and Partridge Lane. A member of the public saw the man lying in the lane and dialled 999. He victim was drifting in and out of consciousness.

Police have only just revealed details of the incident which took place on Saturday, May 31, at about 12.45am. They are examining CCTV footage.

They say all four would have had a great deal of blood on their clothing and footwear.

They are keen to hear from the driver of a small white car, possibly a Volkswagen Golf, which drove past the scene at 12.53am, and headed up Market Place towards Preston Street.

It is believed that earlier both the victim and the main attacker had been in the Hole in the Wall pub in Preston Street.

The main atacked was 5ft 8in, medium build with short dark hair. He was wearing a dark short-sleeved collared T-shirt, dark trousers and dark footwear. The second was 5ft 6in, medium build, and was wearing a dark baseball cap, a light long-sleeved top, dark trousers and white trainers.

The third was 5ft 6in and is of proportionate build. He was wearing a white baseball cap, light Puffa-style jacket with a dark band across the shoulders and a black strip across the back, with dark trousers and white trainers.

The fourth was slim and about 6ft with short dark hair. He was wearing a short-sleeved striped top, dark trousers and dark footwear.
