Drivers have been hit with delays on the A2 as emergency repairs to a burst water main are carried out.
One lane in both directions of the Boughton Bypass, between Faversham and Canterbury, is shut by South East Water.
The work has caused delays in the area in both directions as the two lanes merge into one.
Drivers are set to face disruption until Friday - although engineers are working to get the problem resolved sooner.
Andy Beston, distribution manager at South East Water, said: "One lane of the A2 Boughton Bypass near Faversham is closed after an emergency repair to a burst water main.
"Although we have fixed a section of the damaged pipe, we are investigating further leaks nearby.
"Once all leaks have been repaired, we will fill in the excavations, return the road surface to normal and reopen the closed lanes.
"We are confident this will be done by Friday evening, although we hope to do it sooner.
"Unfortunately, leaks and bursts do happen from time to time on our 9,000-mile underground water network."
