Emergency services were called to the railway after a person was hit by a train.
Train services between Faversham and Margate were cancelled this morning following the incident in Herne Bay.
Southeastern posted about the incident at about 11am today.
“The emergency services are on site after a person was sadly hit by a train between Faversham and Margate,” the firm wrote on X.
“Trains between these stations are cancelled or diverted via Dover Priory.
“You can use your ticket on Stagecoach routes X3, 3, 8, 8A and Loop.”
A British Transport Police spokesman says officers were called to Herne Bay railway station at about 10.54am today following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
“Paramedics also attended and a person has been taken to hospital with injuries that are not deemed to be life-threatening or life-changing,” he said.
“The incident is not being treated as suspicious.”
In an update shortly before midday, Southeastern says power has been restored to the railway.
The line from Faversham towards Margate remains blocked.
But trains towards London via Faversham can now run. However, they have been delayed.
