The main council housing association is to close its doors in Faversham.
Swale Borough Council has today (Monday) announced that AmicusHorizon will close its Stone Street office.
This means that there will no longer be a revenues and benefits officer in Faversham and those wanting face-to-face interview appointments regarding housing or other issues will have to travel to Sittingbourne or organise it in advance.
A statement on Swale Borough Council's website this morning said: "AmicusHorizon have informed us that they intend to close their Stone Street office and our last day of operating from this building will be Monday, October 24.
"After this date there will be no revenues and benefits officer presence in Faversham.
"The Alexander Centre will be a drop off point for claim forms and information where it is not possible to send it electronically.
"Claim forms can also be collected from there.
"A phone will be located in the Alexander Centre in order for customers to call through to the revenues and benefits section if they need a response to an enquiry which cannot be found online.
"In the event that someone would require a face to face interviews appointments can be made online for an interview to take place at Swale House in Sittingbourne."
A spokesman for AmicusHorizon said: "Due to reduced demand, from October 10, our Faversham office will only open on Mondays from 9am-5pm and from the end of November the office will be closed other than for pre-booked appointments.
"This decision has been made in consultation with our involved residents who agree that we should make best use of the resources we have available so we can spend time with those who need it most.
"In line with many other businesses our customers are contacting us in a variety of ways, the majority are doing this online or via the telephone.
