Mr Petherbridge, from Abbey Road, Faversham, was single and unemployed.

He had grown up at Boughton, near Canterbury.

He suffered a fractured skull and died from severe injury to the brain, a post mortem determined.

Friends had described Mr Petherbridge as "kind and genuine" and said he "didn't have a bad bone in his body".

His passenger in the vehicle is said to have suffered "life-changing" injuries.

Coroner Bina Patel heard that the results of toxicology tests on Mr Petherbridge were not yet available.

She adjourned the inquest until 2pm on May 11, to be held at the Archbishop's Palace in Maidstone.
