There have been long delays after three cars crashed on the coastbound stretch of the M2.

One lane was initially blocked between junction 6 for Faversham and junction 7 for Brenley Corner.

It happened at around 5.10pm and it caused queues of traffic to back up to junction 5 for Sittingbourne.

Martin Very, a spokesman from Kent Police said: "We were called at 5.06pm on regarding a collision involving three cars on the coast-bound carriageway of the M2 between junction 6 and 7.

"Officers are currently at the scene where no injuries have been reported."

All lanes are reopened at around 6.35pm, but delays remain in the area.
