Motorists faced long days on the M2 this evening after a vehicle lost a wheel while travelling on the motorway.

There were tailbacks of five miles on the coastbound carriageway between Junction 6 for Faversham and 7 for the A2 Brenley Corner.

One lane was closed and traffic was queuing due to the incident.

However, at about 7.30pm all lanes were reopened.
