Police are appealing for witnesses after a crash between a lorry and a car which left a man trapped in his vehicle and in a serious condition.
The man, driving the silver Vauxhall Corsa, was freed by firefighters after the crash in Ashford Road A251 in Faversham at around 11.15am today.
He was airlifted to Kings College Hospital in London in a serious condition, with leg and hip injuries, and the road was closed for around eight hours.
Kent Air Ambulance, paramedics, police and two fire engines rushed to the scene which was right outside the Faversham fire station.
Fire crews used hydraulic cutting equipment to remove the roof of the car and the man was passed into the care of medical staff.
The road was closed between Canterbury Road A2 and the M2 turn-off while the oil spillage was cleared and the vehicles recovered.
The next of kin of the injured man have been informed.
The driver of the red HGV was uninjured.
At the time of the crash, the HGV was travelling from Ashford towards Faversham and the Corsa was travelling in the opposite direction when the collision occurred.
